Jenny will also be delivering a topical talk on 5 May. '"Joyful, joyful, joyful": Dogs in Literature'. Lockdown life resulted in many people bringing dogs into their homes and, hopefully, their hearts. In this talk, Dr Jenny Bavidge looks at the literary history of our canine companions and thinks about the meanings and emotions we ascribe to dogs and dogginess, from Pablo Neruda's hymn to the 'joyful, joyful, joyful' nature of dogs to contemporary literature which contemplates the encounter between human and animal.
